From Zero to Hero
– The story of an old-fashioned girl in Germany –

For a long time now, I was thinking about writing a blog.
But before I start, let me answer one fundamental question of blogging – Who am I and why am I doing this?
The creation of Rina Bambina took place almost four years ago. I started modeling just for fun and I tried to find my comfort zone. I knew I wouldn’t find this place whilst shooting high fashion clothing and I didn’t really have a specific style at that time (although I like wearing fancy design clothing sometimes ^^).
But I knew that I liked enactments, as I played at the theatre for a long time. And I liked being different – being colorful, cheerful and entertaining.
Now that I’ve found my place to be shooting vintage fashion and pin up art, I really love what I’m doing.
But presenting the photos I shot isn’t enough anymore. In this blog, I want to provide an insight to the hard work that makes it even possible to achieve such results.
I want to show you my team – the persons behind the cameras, behind the makeup mirrors and blow dryers, behind the sewing machines and other tool tables.
My mission and my vision for this blog is to get together with people who share the same passion: Being old-fashioned with style!
So, I want to exchange experiences with you and get to know you. My goal is to create a little network where we can offer tips and advice about everything existing in the retro universe.
I’d like to express my final words in form of a line from my mother’s first poem (I guess ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the trunk’ as we say in Germany): You can change the world just by living in it, even if you think, you are the smallest person.

Ich denke nun schon eine ganze Weile darüber nach, einen Blog zu verfassen, in dem ich niederschreibe, was ich als Retro Model erlebe und was mich bewegt.
Doch zuerst sollte ich eine fundamentale Frage des Bloggens beantworten – Wer bin ich eigentlich und was mache ich hier?
Rina Bambina erschien zum ersten Mal vor ca. vier Jahren auf der Bildfläche. Ich hatte immer schon Spaß daran gehabt, in andere Rollen zu schlüpfen und andere Menschen zu unterhalten. Daher spiele ich seit bereits 19 Jahren am Theater in meiner Heimat.
Als ich die Fotografie für mich entdeckt hatte, war es mir wichtig, meine Wohlfühl-Zone zu finden – das heißt Ideen umzusetzen, mit denen ich mich identifizieren konnte. Mir war schnell bewusst, dass ich dieses Ziel in der High Fashion Fotografie nicht finden würde (obwohl es mir ab und zu schon Freude bereitet, in ausgefallene Designer-Klamotten zu steigen ^^).
Nach einer Weile habe ich mein Herz an die Vintage-Mode verloren und so meinen Platz als Model gefunden.
In meinem Blog möchte ich Einblicke hinter die Kulissen meiner Bilder geben. Denn hinter jedem Bild stecken viele Gedanken und noch mehr Arbeit.
Es ist mir außerdem wichtig, die Menschen zu zeigen, die hinter der Kamera, den Schminkspiegeln und Haartrocknern, den Nähmaschinen und Werkzeugbänken stehen und die Entstehung eines Bildes erst möglich machen.
Nicht zuletzt liegt es mir am Herzen, den Kontakt mit anderen Menschen aufzubauen, die meine Leidenschaft für alles Altmodische teilen, Erfahrungen und Tipps auszutauschen. Zusammen ist man weniger allein!
Ich möchte diesen ersten Post mit einer Zeile beenden, die an die geschriebenen Worte meiner Mutter angelehnt ist: Man kann die Welt verändern, indem man in ihr lebt, auch wenn man glaubt, der kleinste Mensch auf ihr zu sein.
